Day 9: Help a girl make her pad

#Week2 #Advocacy #Day9 #MenstrualHealth

Welcome to Day 5 in the second week of the WinterABC 2021 challenge and we are still talking Advocacy.

The last 4 days I was advocating for Financial freedom ,Being generous , Knowing your triggers and reminding a depressed soul that his/her life still matters..

Today, as we end the Advocacy week, I come challenging each one of us to Help a girl make her pad as a way to curb the problem of limited menstrual products. This will boost menstrual health and the benefits it comes with like keeping the girl in school, reducing child marriages, unwanted pregnancies and building the confidence of the girl child.

I volunteer with Wami Foundation and one of the ways through which we bridge gaps in society is by training both girls and boys how to make reusable sanitary towels. Sanitary towels are much needed in Africa and this is our contribution towards solving the problem. We do this through the Make my pad projects we have so far done in Uganda

You may ask, how are such reusable sanitary towels or pads made? Well, here are images and a video to help you acquire the skill and go on to teach a girl you wi meet who will need it. You can also check put YouTube for more videos.

It is at this juncture that I challenge you to learn how to make a reusable sanitary towel/pad then go head to at least teach one girl in your lifetime. If you can not, at least help one girl access menstrual products.

I once dated a gentleman who made sure my menstrual products were supplied on time and I never lacked anything that I needed to use during menstruation. This was a beautiful memory I will forever hold dear and it is one of the main reasons I shall always go out and train a girl, to give her a better experience in life. 🥰

Together we can promote menstrual health by helping a girl access menstrual products or equiping her with skills to make reusable sanitary towels which are recommended as a healthier option.

I love you
