LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL

#Leaders

Hello, Like I promised in the stock taking, here is the first piece from my guest. Be blessed👏👏👏

“Politicians are people who, when they see light at the end of the tunnel, go out to buy more tunnel” -John Quinton

Emphatic shouts, claps and endless chants. Joy fills the atmosphere. Honking horns and chatter here and there, makes it feel like the African Jubilee. Roads filled with people, business put to a halt, a beehive of activity, all done to glance at him who will bring us the light at the end of the tunnel.

A little while after the big win, the tokens and handouts are long gone, they are only but a memory. The sound of silence grows louder day by day and the bright blessed day becomes colder and darker. It then sinks in, the light at the end of the tunnel is dimming.

Hope starts wearing thin. Looks like there’s no light at the end of the tunnel anymore, and soon the tunnel itself vanishes. The bright blessed day now becomes the darkest night, the darkness can be felt in the bones. Father sucks up his tears, an aching body and a bruised back daily amount to nothing, all mother can do is bend her knee and cry out to God above.

Suddenly, he who had vanished re-appears. He is daily in the news, moving all over, checking on the people. The days are drawing near and the term is coming to an end. He speaks of the light at the end of the tunnel, and even brings back the lost tunnel to give a semblance of light, a ray of hope, but all he has are words, no light, no tunnel.

“Vote me again and I will lead you to the light at the end of the tunnel” … but the reality is, after being voted he dashes to the market and buys more tunnel, with the money you daily give to Ceaser, till he needs the vote.

Vote wisely!

  1. Oh yeah! Our politicians are cone artists. What amazes me is why we keep on listening and following them. Great piece!
