A Creative short story

As it has always been the norm in my family to travel upcountry during the December holidays, this particular journey in 2016 was one full of hilarious stories and here is one of them.

It was a chilly morning when my brother and I boarded a Global coach bus to Mbarara, a district in Uganda. We were going to attend a friend’s marriage introduction ceremony.

After one hour into the jorney, my brother made mention to me that he was dozing but did not want to sleep while on board. I then told him to get busy or open the window which he did. However , this did not help the situation because sleep had just attacked him as if it was a storm from the sky. He unwillingly lost the battle and slowly slipped into deep sleep.

No sooner had he slept than he started snoring… Yes, snoring while on a bus! I tried my personal hacks of pressing his nose for a second but this did not help. He instead increased the snoring pace to a volume that one would think a motorbike was being ridden next to me. This automatically attracted people’s attention with some of them laughing while others were making funny comments for example one stated that my brother must have been so tired for him to snore like that.

Amidst all that drama, I just composed myself and asked God to shield my ears from hearing the sound while I watched my brother snore in his sleep. I just could not believe my eyes. Regardless we continued with the journey and by the time he woke up, I was dying of pee😄. Thanks to all the anxiety my body was reacting to.

I requested the bus conductor to stop so that I could go and ease myself and he responded in the affirmative. After an hour , we reached Mbarara and we found my friend waiting for us at the bus park. The moment he saw us, he greeted us and ushered us into a taxi that was to transport us to our place of abode. All this while, my brother was silent till we reached the hotel…
