Drop debt, there is nothing good about it.

Drop DEBT, there is nothing good about it.

Debt is defined as a sum of money that is owed or due.

Debt is one of the most undesirable paths to take in life. Sometimes I like to call it one of the 1000 ways to die.
Mainly because it has a great negative impact on our relationship with God as we are tempted to think He does not care about our needs.
Getting into debt is basically consuming tomorrow’s treasure today. Debt is the opposite of treasure.
Debt leads you into slavery as it robs you of your financial freedom.

Debt robs you of harmony in key relationships as you will find yourself going through the hustle of blocking people who demand you. You will always live in hiding mode once debt takes a hold of you.
Debt robs you of the opportunity to be a blessing, you just cannot give to people easily because your debt is chocking you. Each penny you have is automatically channelled to paying the debt.
Debt minimizes one’s ability to think beyond it, you just cannot think better developmental ideas.
It kills one’s confidence and self-esteem. You will be despised by people who once respected you and this kills emotionally.

Personally, I have resolved to avoid debt at both levels. When it comes to borrowing, I have developed tough skin by refusing to borrow. I will gladly ask for help, look out for partners or basically wait on God to sort me out as opposed to borrowing each time I have a pressing need/want that I am unable to meet on my own.

Then when it comes to lending, I only stick to lending out money that I can afford to lose. Most cases I prefer just giving to someone an amount I can afford without expecting return. I vowed to do this ever since I lent out a big sum of money to a friend who intentionally refused to pay it back. This person’s action sent me straight into a financial class and health recovery program. I died and resurrected..

Therefore, may we learn to be patient, lower our costs of living, be generous and look out for partnerships when we are to start businesses that require lots of capital such that we avoid debt.
There is nothing good about debt!!!

“May you leave a WILL and not a BILL when you die.

Get out of debt!

This is a very passionate appeal Justine. Thanks for sharing and I agree on many points. Perpetual debt is a trap. I have 2 questions for you though. What do you think about businesses that make their money by lending money? Then how about those who borrow for developmental purposes not for spending on self or luxury?
