Book Summary 1: Visioneering

Visioneering is a book written by Andy Stanley and it is one of the best guide for discovering and maintaining personal vision.

It’s one of those books I read every year and below is a summary of it;

Visioneering is defined as the process of making a vision or a dream a reality; building a concept into a workable application.
Vision is a mental picture of what could be fuelled by the conviction that it should be.
Andy Stanley

In his book Visioneering, Andy Stanley highlights that vision begins as a concern that does not necessarily require immediate action. Vision requires patience.

He also states that;
Visions require constant attention, bold leadership and adherence to a set of core
beliefs and behaviors that we can also call values. It is these core beliefs that will keep the team together and aligned to the vision.
As we launch out into the vision journey, he encourages us to pray for opportunities mainly because prayer takes us beyond human possibilities.

He also reminds us to plan as though someone is going to come and give us an opportunity to pursue our visions and communicate our vision as a solution to a problem that must be addressed now to
the right people at the appropriate time.

He further emphasises the fact that whatever God originates, He orchestrates and hence we should neither confuse our plans with God’s vision nor allow to be distracted. We should instead focus on the finish line and gear all our energies towards the vision God has birthed in us because faithfulness is very key to the success of a vision.

Finally, he concludes the book by highlighting the fact that we should have an awareness that there is divine potential in us all to do all we envision. We therefore should remain aligned to the source of our vision and always know that the end of a God ordained vision is God Himself. When God shows up through your vision, everyone in the vicinity is affected and therefore all the glory should be given to God because He is the alpha and the omega.

I encourage you to grab a copy of the book and read it…
It will help you understand more about what is vision or having or working on a vision is.
